Open Day

The Orchard Day Nursery and Out of School Club is hosting an arts and culture fun day.

Open to everyone, this one day event in July 2011 will bring together past and present families of the Orchard Community to share in a range of exciting family oriented activities in beautiful surroundings in the heart of Caversham.

There will be food and music from around the world, workshops and performance, arts and crafts and much, much more. Prospective parents are invited to use this as an opportunity to see what else the setting has to offer and how valued the community spirit is.

Over the years The Orchard has run some great festival style open days which really bring the community together. We've had outdoor interactive theatre shows, dance performances by Mo's dance and drama pupils and music from  local bands (including the soul sensations The Liam Coughlin Band). There's always a bouncy castle, lots of art activities such as mask and banner making and a host of traditional and not so traditional outdoor games. As well as space just to hang out and enjoy.

Food plays a big part in these events. Just as we like to promote healthy and adventurous eating at the nursery, so we like to offer great tasting experiences to our community visitors. This year we have a team of talented chefs running several food stands where visitors can sample delights from around the world and even get involved in hands on cooking workshops and barbecue.

The children enjoy preparing the grounds for the big party day by making beautiful, festive decorations and displays.

You too are welcome to contribute to the day if you have a skill or service to offer, please get in touch.

More details to follow of the final line up of performances and workshops.
